Dr. funk

Well known German doctor Bernard Funk was not only Robert Louis Stevenson's physician and friend, but was also the alleged inventor of an early version of this drink during his many years serving as a doctor to the people of Alia Samoa. The only exotic cocktail to have its origins in the South Pacific, both Donn and Vic had Doctor Funk drinks on their menus. Vic described it as "a beverage that can be served any time of the day or evening, when something refreshing is in order. This drink and the sunrise in the morning are the only sure things they count on in Tahiti. I think it was invented to cure the cafard (the loss of one's mind from the heat)."
