Saucisson Au Chocolat

Rich, sweetened chocolate studded with nuts, candied ginger and pumpkin seeds gives this dessert its salami aesthetic. The addition of spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove help this sweet treat mimic the savory salami Saucisson D’Alsace. New York Magazine’s Grub Street Blog featured this dessert as number 84 on the list of 101 Most Crazy Awesome New Desserts. It’s another variation of an Italian classic, Salame di Ciccolato (chocolate salami) created by Pastry Chef Amelia Lane for Olympia Provisions, a salumeria based in Portland, Oregon.
